FORTE Platform

You may be wondering, what is FORTE and what does it have to do with the Andover School Committee. It is an acronym standing for Fairness, Openness, Respect, Teamwork, and Execution. I firmly believe that for our town and schools to achieve their goals, a framework based on these values is necessary.
Values
Fairness

As a representative of the Andover School District, School Committee members need to balance competing perspectives, needs, stakeholders, and many other factors. The only way to do this effectively is to be fair.

I strive be equitable and fair-minded – continually asking how I would like to be treated if I were in the other person’s shoes. I don’t play favorites or have double standards when working with members of the APS community, and I view every interaction through the lens of: “What is a mutually fair outcome?”

Openness

Andover Public School district has thousands of stakeholders but only 5 people are elected to the school committee. Being open with the public is critical to build trust and to represent the community effectively.

I strive to be as open as possible with everyone. I recognize that full transparency is not always possible especially when it involves contract negotiations. I will make myself available and discuss any topics relevant to the School Committee with anyone that asks.

Respect

Respect is probably the most important value for anyone holding public office. Respect for other committee members, Respect for the students, Respect for the Faculty and Staff, and Respect for the community as a whole. With such a large, diverse community, members of the Andover School District have all different points of view, needs, and ideas. Respecting other perspective is critical to success.

I will always be respectful of others in my position on the Andover School Committee. I strive to treat everyone with respect and to make sure every voice is heard. I will also embrace and celebrate diversity and know that only by doing so, can we be the best at what we do.

Teamwork

Cooperation and collaboration are critical to the mission of the Andover School Committee. All of the Committee members must work together but Teamwork goes beyond the committee. It is critical to partner with the broader school district, town, teachers, community members, and more.

My personal and professional experiences are all based on teamwork. Additionally, I strive to make other team members better. The combined success is the goal and not above an individual one.

Execution

Ultimately, it is up to the School Committee to deliver for the community. This requires strong execution. I hold myself  accountable to deliver for the community each and every day.
